Pioneer BDP 320 1080p Blu ray Disc Player Is blu ray better than DVD upscaling?

When technology changes, it is important that every electronic product change to accommodate the newer versions.

With the technological changes, the electronic products, especially televisions, need to be able to accommodate the changes. One important development was to upgrade the abilities of the regular DVD player to sync with the HDTV so that its gives great quality picture.

Blu-ray discs are the latest to hit the scene of the electronic markets but no one knows yet how good they will turn out to be in the end? This is because; finally it boils down to the war of resolutions. There is a particular resolution the standard home video player offers and this is without up- gradation. Even a DVD player can offer only a particular resolution.

HDTV have the ability to display a video resolution of 1080p or 720p where 1080p is the highest they can offer for now. Therefore, it is understood that if one is using a normal DVD player, they will not get such a high quality output even if they have a HDTV.

But with upscaling, the pixels in the regular DVD are formatted into HD DVDs and therefore, when played, we get high quality display which justifies our use of the HDTV.

However, an upscaling is not always a good idea. It is just another way of upgrading the DVD and not really converting into HD DVD. So, in short it just about offers you a better viewing experience and not the true experience in the end.

So while reading this, one should consider the following points:

The pixels in the 720p, have 480 lines in the horizontal manner which are alternately displayed. This means odd lines are followed by even lines.

This uses progressive scanning which means, each line which is displayed is followed by another one. Through this better image quality is obtained.

With 720p, 1280 pixels are present per line while 720 pixels are present horizontally on the screen. Through progressive scanning again, lines follow each other in display.

In the case of 1080p, there 1920 pixels and 1080 horizontal lines for display through progressive scanning.

In short, if you make use of the Blu-ray disc players with blu-ray CDs, you are bound to get amazing picture quality that justifies you watching films or sports on an HDTV.
